Gunn IMS (Intramuscular Stimulation ) is a dry needling technique offered at Lethbridge Physiotherapy. Our Physiotherapists certified in Gunn IMS use an acupuncture needle to release tight, shortened muscles. The needles used for this technique are very thin.
Muscles are palpated for super-sensitive, tight points and the IMS needle is used to elicit a grasping response by the muscle. The grasping response causes a reflex relaxation of the muscle or a releasing sensation.
Treatments are usually once a week to allow for time between appointments for the body to heal itself.
